Chandler Jones International Limited (Chandler Jones
International) is committed to meeting the requirements of
the Disability Discrimination Act and makes every effort to ensure
its communications are accessible to those with special needs,
including those with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor
impairments.
Validation has been carried out to the current XHTML standards
and we aim to make this website adhere to priority 1, 2
guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines, that is AA compliance. Assistive technologies
such as screen and Braille readers may be used to access this
site's web pages.
Our accessibility programme is part of a continued development
process and will continue to drive the way we develop our online
presence. Below is an outline of the steps we have taken to
ensure we achieve the checkpoints outlined above.
Links
Many links have title attributes which describe the link in
greater detail, and in the majority of cases the text of the link
already fully describes the target. Wherever possible, links are
written to make sense out of context. Many browsers (such as JAWS,
Home Page Reader, Lynx and Opera) can extract the list of links on
a page and allow you to browse the links separately from the
page.
PDFs
We have tried to minimise the number of PDFs on the site. Adobe
has recently updated its free reader to include screen reading
functionality. If you don't have software/plug-in to display PDF
documents, you can use Adobe® conversion online tools or download
and install Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Help with finding content
We have provided a site map for visitors.
Links to our policies, including our Privacy Statement, our
Terms of Use and this Accessibility Statement appear at the bottom
of every page.
Images
Every image conveying information uses ALT attributes to
describe the image in text format, enabling screen readers to read
it. Decorative images contain empty ALT attributes.
Colour
Foreground and background colours contrast well throughout the
site, with the majority of content appearing black on white. These
combinations provide sufficient contrast and colour difference to
enable colour blind users to make senses of the sites. Colour is
never used as a sole method of grouping data.
Text Sizing & Layout
The size of all text is defined in relative units, so its size
can be changed using standard browser tools. To change text size
using:
Mozilla, MSIE: Hold CTRL key and roll mouse wheel, or use menu
item view/text size
Opera: Hold CTRL key and roll mouse wheel, or use menu item
view/zoom
Tables are used for tabular data, but we have avoided using them
to dictate the layout of a page wherever possible.
Our 'house style' uses relative font sizes and is written to
display pages correctly in most commonly-used browsers. In early
versions of browsers and browsing devices that do not support our
'house style' at all, the flow of the content has been tested to
ensure it entirely retains its sense.
